Pretty in pink- step by step
With the busiest couple of months of the year for my small business fast approaching and a to-do list as long as my arm (argh), instead of ticking something boring off my list, I thought I’d create and share this easy-to-do look (perfect for your first BBQ of the silly Spring season and fab festive Summer season). ‘Cause it’s much more fun to play with makeup than do all the boringgggg to-do's! I call it, creative-procrastination 😘
Pink makeup looks gorgeous year-round, it can really freshen up your look, plus it feels oh-so-right for springtime. Pink makeup is also a really swift way to modernise your makeup look, freshen you up, and there really is a pink to suit everyone. This particular makeup look is all about creating beautiful, plump and luscious pink lips (something many of us ladies over 50 can struggle with, due to the old shrivelling lip scenario and pesky reduction in collagen).
#1: Eyes and base
Apply your usual base, a soft pink eyeshadow and some mascara - this look is all about those lovely lips of yours. I love to use the mii Cosmetics Forever Eye Crayon in Sorbet for a soft shimmering, stay-all-day pink, and the Runway Room "Glow Palette" pink blush shade is a fun eyeshadow too.
#2: Hydrate
I know this may seem obvious but one of the secrets to plumper lips over 40 is to lather on a deeply moisturising lip balm regularly. I am always applying Clemence Organics Ultimate Lip Balm to maximise my pout and "plump out" any fine lines caused by dehydration. It's seriously amazing the fullness one can achieve just by using a really good quality, genuinely hydrating lip balm.
PRO APPLICATION TIP:
Apply your lip balm before bed, and again while doing your skincare, so by the time you get to applying lipstick your lips are deliciously hydrated. If you’re in a hurry, blot the lip balm with a tissue before Step #3.
#3: Lipstick
Apply your lipstick. Here I went for a pretty spring pink, with a hint of vibrancy - Feminist by Runway Room.
#4: Lipgloss
Slick on a luscious velvety gloss, with shimmering light-reflecting particles to give the effect of fuller, plumper looking lips. I’ve used Fairy Lights by Runway Room.
#5: Add blush
Finish the look with a little dab of pink blush on the cheeks. Two of my faves are Harmony by Ere Perez Cosmetics and Flushed by Kylie's Professional - both 100% natural, skin-loving products that really lift your complexion.
Now, how good does that look? 💋
That’s all from me for now. Keep shining bright my lovelies.
